Century City Area of Los Angeles, CA  90067

Welcome to my page dedicated to the Century City area of Los Angeles.

As a real estate agent and property owner, I believe that having an understanding of community resources and school information is important when considering buying or selling a home, commercial property, or investment property.

In order to help you better understand Century City as a residential community and its relationship to the cities of Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, I have compiled this brief overview of the neighborhood.

Thanks again and be sure to contact me for any of your Sunset Strip, Hollywood Hills, Beverly Hills, Hancock Park, Bel Air, Century City, Wilshire Corridor, Pacific Palisades, and Downtown Los Angeles real estate needs.

Century City

On their first visit to Los Angeles, many visitors mistakenly think Century City is Downtown Los Angeles.  Downtown is actually located ten miles across the city, to the east.  The multitude of high-rise towers in Century City causes the confusion. When viewing the area from afar, even locals sometimes confuse the area with the Wilshire Corridor because the towers of Century City blend in with the high-rise buildings along the Corridor.

A City Within a City

What is Century City?  It is a district of Los Angeles that occupies approximately 176 acres on the Westside.  It is very much a city within a city, an upscale mini-metropolis that is home to some of Los Angeles's finest restaurants, hotels, and entertainment venues.

Since it was founded 50 years ago, Century City has become an prestigious address for businesses, shopping, luxury living, dining, and guest accommodations. Today, it's home to many businesses, including investment banks, CPA's, real estate firms, and a host of medical, technology, and media firms.  Many law firms and talent agencies that serve the film, television, and music industries are headquartered there.  The presence of these firms have given Century City a well-earned reputation as being an upscale business center.

A major advantage for businesses located in Century City over Downtown Los Angeles is its proximity to Beverly Hills, Westwood, the Wilshire Corridor, and Santa Monica.

Because of its central location, easy accessibility, and abundant office space, Century City is primarily a commercial district.  However, there is also a sizeable residential community of about 5,000 people.  The area was once the backlot of Twentieth Century Fox, from which it derived its name.  Fox was forced to sell off its backlot after incurring massive losses following the release of "Cleopatra" starring Elizabeth Taylor.

Many locals are familiar with Century City because of the newly renovated outdoor Westfield Mall, which is home to department stores, restaurants, movie theaters, and luxury boutiques.  The Fox Plaza, an office tower where many Fox businesses are located, was featured prominently in the first "Die Hard" film starring Bruce Willis.

Century City Buildings

One of Century City's most striking features is its architecture.  Some of the most recognizable buildings in Century City include:

For many years, Century City was home to the Shubert Theater, which hosted many Broadway musicals. The Shubert was demolished in 2002 and was replaced by a modern glass building which serves as the headquarters of the Creative Artists Agency (CAA).

Century City Lifestyle

There's a striking cleanliness about Century City, a refreshing, open-air atmosphere.  Despite the ten million square feet of office space, approximately 60% of Century City remains open.  This open-air aspect, complemented by pedestrian walkways, outdoor plazas, and striking architecture, make Century City an enjoyable walking experience, particularly near Avenue of the Stars.

Century City hotels provide a wide range of five-star accommodations for out-of-town visitors.  The Westin Century Plaza Hotel is a Los Angeles landmark and has hosted numerous U.S. Presidents and overseas royalty.  The Marriott and Hyatt chains also provide rooms for guests visiting Los Angeles.

Century City Real Estate

Century City is also home to many luxurious high- and low-rise condominium buildings. All of Century City's condominium complexes have an ambiance of privacy and sophistication.

Century City Residential Options

The primary Century City condo and townhome developments are:

  • Century Park East
  • Le Parc
  • Century Hill
  • Park Place
  • Century Woods
  • Century Towers
  • The Century

All six condominium complexes are unique and elegant, offering pools, security, fitness centers, tennis courts, and spacious gardens.  Additional amenities include concierge services, doormen, controlled access, clubhouses, tennis courts, sauna, gym facilities,  elegant landscaping, manicured gardens, sundecks, secluded park-like surroundings, amazing views, private elevators, banquet rooms, elegantly furnished libraries and conference rooms, state-of-the-art screening rooms, swimming pools, wine storage, and private storage areas.

Many people enjoy Century City living because of its unique location.  Homeowners are drawn to Century City because of convenient access to all places on the West Side. Century City is a short drive to the Los Angeles International Airport.

Century City is approximately a 5-minute drive to world-famous Rodeo Drive shopping in Beverly Hills, where a plethora of luxurious boutiques and restaurants await.  Many celebrities and influential business people from all over the world own condominiums in Century City, often as second, third, or fourth homes.

Because there is a limited supply of residences, Century City condos tend to be highly coveted in the marketplace and sell well.  From condominiums to townhomes and high-rises, the living options in Century City offer some of L.A.'s finest features and most elegant floor plans.
