Glendale The City of Glendale has seen tremendous growth over the last 30 years for several reasons. Today, Glendale is home to approximately 200,000 residents. It is the third largest city in Los Angeles County. Glendale offers a short commute to downtown Los Angeles and the Valley. It is known for its safe neighborhoods, reasonable home prices, and the diversity and distinctive character of its homes. The crime level is relatively low and public services well managed. Glendale is such a great city to live that it has been named a finalist in the National Civic League’s “All-America City Award.” Glendale is the home of the southern campus of DreamWorks SKG, Disney Engineering, and Nestle, among many other major corporations and businesses. Its location near downtown Los Angeles and Hollywood has made it attractive as a place to centralize business operations. It offers ample space, vibrant energy for workers and residents alike, and more economic alternatives to Hollywood and downtown LA. Glendale's ParksOne of the best-kept secrets of Glendale among its residents is its parks. Glendale offers 32 city parks on 4,800 acres that are well-maintained by the city. These parks are popular among residents who enjoy family outings, picnics, playgrounds, and sporting activities. Brand Park is home to the Brand Library and Art Center, which is considered one of the finest music and art libraries in the entire state. Verdugo Park, which offers a skate park, is also a very popular destination, as is Nibley Park. Historical structures such as the Casa Adobe, Tea House, and Verdugo Adobe are a great reminder of the city's historic past. Historic preservation plays an important role in the city's fabric.
